Urban Structure Study - Analysis I
Qualities considered:
- legibility - how easy to recognize parts of environment ?
- permeability - how much choice of through access, how differentiate public vs. private ?
- variety - mix of uses ?
- historic continuity
- responsiveness to context and culture
Structural aspects analyzed:
- circulation
- building coverage (many gaps in urban fabric, some parking lots)
- land use (mix of uses within block was norm up to 1950's, now rare)
- commercial development (concentrated along Barrington St. in 1950, today in two clusters at either end of street and Spring Garden Road)
