Coles, James Grant " Energy Conservation and Municipal Planning"
This thesis is primarily concerned with the development of a computer-oriented planning technique to be used by planners at the local government level. The intent is to increase knowledge of the energy consumption patterns of urban municipalities in general and of residential districts in particular. The technique is designed to facilitate more informed citizen participation and to stimulate increased energy conservation in Canadian urban settlements. The way in which this may be accomplished in the future is outlined, in part, by means of a demonstration of the technique within several residential districts of the Halifax-Dartmouth metropolitan region of Nova Scotia.
